# How tech companies partner with engineering communities in Central Europe

A recruiter charges €15 to €25K per senior hire. A conference booth buys three days of badge scans. Most companies trying to reach engineering leaders in Central Europe pay one of those two bills every year without pricing the third option.

**A community partnership** is a paid, year-round arrangement where a company funds an existing professional community and gets sustained access to its members in return: hosted meetups, speaking slots, newsletter placement, hiring access, mentoring seats. Event sponsorship buys visibility for one moment. A partnership puts you in front of the same room, month after month.

## The room, in numbers

![A packed ELC meetup audience seated at small round tables in a lounge venue, applauding a speaker, with more attendees standing at the back of the room.](https://www.engineeringleaders.io/_astro/partner-with-an-engineering-community-room.Dch_yPlt_TkY1F.webp)

I founded Engineering Leaders Community (ELC) in 2019. Today it is the largest community of senior engineering leaders in Central Europe: 3,100+ members meeting across Prague, Brno, Bratislava and Kraków, 12 meetups a year, 120+ leaders in the room each time.

Counted from the 1,263 member profiles with a recorded title, the community holds at least 88 CTOs, 44 VPs of Engineering, 173 Directors and Heads of Engineering, 289 Engineering Managers and 132 founders. Every figure is a floor, because plenty of profiles carry no title at all. Members work at Productboard, Kiwi.com, Ataccama, GitLab and 50+ other companies.

That composition is the whole argument. Building an audience like this yourself takes years of consistent events, and renting one at a conference gets you whoever happens to walk past your stand. Which is why the comparison below is worth making before any events budget gets signed.

## Own event vs conference booth vs community partnership

| | Your own event | Conference booth | Community partnership |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Audience | Built from zero each time | Whoever walks past | Already assembled, same members return |
| Frequency | As often as you can afford to produce | Once a year | Monthly, 12 meetups a year at ELC |
| Seniority | Unknown until doors open | Badge-scan lottery | Known upfront, 69% Manager+ at ELC |
| What compounds | Little, unless you repeat it for years | Brand recall, at best | The same room sees you twelve times |

## How to evaluate a community before you pay

1. **Ask for the title breakdown in absolute numbers.** Percentages hide small rooms. “60% senior” can mean 30 people. Ask how many CTOs, how many VPs, how many Directors.
2. **Check the cadence, not the highlight reel.** A community that meets monthly gives you twelve shots a year. An annual flagship gives you one.
3. **Ask who partnered last year and whether they renewed.** Renewals are the hardest sponsorship metric to dress up. At ELC, 4 of 7 partners renew every year.
4. **Get exclusivity terms in writing.** If your competitor can buy the same stage next quarter, price that in.
5. **Divide the price by senior decision-makers reached.** Then put it next to a recruiter fee of €15 to €25K per senior hire and see which line item survives.

## What it costs at ELC

**Updated 20 August 2026.** The packages were renamed and repriced after this post first ran: the old Stardust, Orbit, Nebula, Supernova and Quasar tiers are now Free, Starter, Talent reach, Education, Vital, Visibility, Story and Product. The table below is current.

The full ladder is public on the [partner page](https://www.engineeringleaders.io/partner/), and each item carries its own price, so a package can be assembled piece by piece. The anchors:

| Package | Price per year | Built for |
| --- | --- | --- |
| [Free](https://www.engineeringleaders.io/partner/membership/free/) | €0 | Testing the water, live today |
| [Starter](https://www.engineeringleaders.io/partner/membership/starter/) | €900 a seat, from 3 seats | A circle seat and a meetup seat per person |
| Leadership Pilot | €2,500 | Developing your own engineering managers |
| Pilot Meetup | €3,500 | One hosted meetup at your office |
| [Vital](https://www.engineeringleaders.io/partner/membership/vital/) | €10,000 | Healthy, durable leaders |
| [Hiring](https://www.engineeringleaders.io/partner/membership/hiring/) | €12,000 | Hiring senior engineering talent |
| [Visibility](https://www.engineeringleaders.io/partner/membership/visibility/) | €14,000 | Your speakers and story in every room |
| [Education](https://www.engineeringleaders.io/partner/membership/education/) | €15,000 | Growing the leaders you already have |
| [Product](https://www.engineeringleaders.io/partner/membership/product/) | €20,000 | Product visibility with decision-makers |
| [Story](https://www.engineeringleaders.io/partner/membership/story/) | €25,000 | A produced storytelling year |

With category exclusivity, Product runs €32,000. Starter is priced per seat and the rate falls with the group: €820 a seat from 6, €740 from 11, €650 from 26. The cap is 10 partners a year, and exclusivity is one partner per category per year across 8 categories.

A partnership also reaches beyond the meetups themselves: the Leaders’ Brief newsletter goes to 2,800+ subscribers with a 74% open rate, Marian’s List holds 182 vetted engineering leaders with 62 actively looking, and the annual ELC Conference brings 500+ attendees, rated 4.8 stars.

## What partners got out of it

![Two engineering leaders sitting in armchairs during a fireside-style chat at an ELC meetup, one speaking into a microphone while the other listens and smiles.](https://www.engineeringleaders.io/_astro/partner-with-an-engineering-community-fireside.xxe3j2Xo_Z1UJSNs.webp)

Everpure hired 3 Director+ leaders over 2 years. Ataccama made 4 senior hires including a VP Platform. Apify has stayed a partner for 3 years running. Across partners, that adds up to 2.7 engineering leaders hired from the community per month. One senior hire at recruiter rates covers most of a €12,000 package on its own.

And the honest limit: if you need twenty junior hires by Q4, this is the wrong tool. The room is senior, and it is not a jobs board. No booths, no badge scanners, no paid talks. Recruiters and agencies cannot buy a partnership.

## Where to start

[The Free package is €0](https://www.engineeringleaders.io/partner/membership/free/) and running today. The whole ladder, item by item, sits on the [partner page](https://www.engineeringleaders.io/partner/). Whether the room is worth €12,000 to you depends on what a senior hire, a warm pipeline, or a stage in front of 120+ engineering leaders is worth to your company this year. That math is yours to run.

## Questions people ask

How much does it cost to sponsor a tech community in Central Europe?

At ELC the ladder runs from €0 for the Free package, through a per seat Starter option from €900 a seat and entry packages at €2,500 to €3,500, up to annual packages at €10,000 for Vital, €12,000 for Talent reach, €14,000 for Visibility, €15,000 for Education, €20,000 for Product and €25,000 for Story. With category exclusivity, Product runs €32,000. Every item also carries its own price, so a package can be assembled piece by piece.

What is the difference between sponsoring a conference and partnering with a community?

A conference sponsorship covers one event. A community partnership at ELC puts a partner in front of the same 3,100+ members across 12 meetups a year, plus a 2,800+ subscriber newsletter, mentoring seats and hiring channels.

Can a company be the only partner in its category?

Yes. ELC caps category exclusivity at one partner per category per year, across 8 categories. First to commit locks it.

How do companies measure return on a community partnership?

Mostly through hiring. Partners hire 2.7 engineering leaders a month from the ELC community, against recruiter fees of €15 to €25K per senior hire. 4 of 7 partners renew every year.
