ELC Speaker Programme

A public speaking coach and the ELC stage for your engineer.

One speaker, one real story from your work. A slot at an ELC meetup, 120+ registrations at a typical one, and the steps that make a first-time speaker good: the story, the dry run, the write-up, the next stage.

From €1,000 for the stage, €3,300 for the whole programme, ex VAT. Prices as of 20 October 2026. Every euro credited against a company membership signed within 90 days.

Who it is for

  • A new engineering manager with one strong story and stage fright
  • Your first employer branding speaker, before a full year of visibility
  • A senior engineer building a public profile ahead of a promotion case

“Public speaking is my biggest fear. So I did it twice.”

A backend engineering manager at a Prague software studio, two months into the role, wrote that on LinkedIn in October 2026.

  • CoachThe fear was real and the nerves were real. A dry run two weeks out is where that gets rehearsed, not on the night.
  • StoryHe had one topic he lived every day: how AI had reshaped the way his team builds software. One real story beats three borrowed ones.
  • StageTwo rooms, Brno and Prague. What he remembered afterwards was not the talk but the conversations it started.
  • BeyondHis company started its own speakers programme the same month. One engineer on a stage tends to pull the next one up.

From the call to the night

2 months end to end. Your side of it: one engineer with a real story, a yes on the date, and the talk description approved by the speaker.

  1. Week 1

A call with Marian: the story your speaker has, the date, which rungs you take. The offer lands in your inbox the same day.

  2. Weeks 2 to 4

Story sessions, if taken: the topic the room wants, the storyline, the slide review. Title and abstract go on Luma; your speaker approves their own talk description.

  3. Week 5

The announcement: face, first name and your logo on Luma, Meetup.com, LinkedIn and the ELC web card. Members see it first, the public four days later.

  4. Two weeks before

The dry run with the public speaking coach, if taken. Slides locked 48 hours before the night.

  5. The night

Two talks, a break, Q&A opened by pre-submitted questions. 120+ registrations at a typical meetup. A photographer and a camera in the room.

  6. Two weeks after

Photos, the recorded talk and a 60-second clip delivered to you. The speaker pack and the Speakers Club welcome. Blog post or podcast segment, and the conference abstracts, if taken.

Questions about the speaker programme

Why pay when the call for speakers is free?

The call for speakers at /cfp/ is for a person applying on their own: the topic competes for a slot and takes the date where it fits the programme. The programme on this page is for a company sending a speaker: a guaranteed slot on an agreed date, you pick the engineer, ELC shapes the topic with them, and the photos, the video and a company-framed LinkedIn post come back to you for your own channels. Same stage, same bar for the talk, different buyer.

Is a slot at an outside conference guaranteed?

No. Beyond ELC writes three abstracts with your speaker, one of them for the ELC Conference call for speakers, and pitches them to two or three outside conferences. ELC does not sit on another organiser’s selection committee, so placement there is not promised. The ELC meetup slot and the coaching are.

Who is the public speaking coach?

Shaun Dudley, the public speaking and stage presence coach on the ELC mentor roster. The rung is a one-to-one and a dry run two weeks before the night, scheduled and prepared with your speaker.

How far ahead do we need to book, and for how many speakers?

2 months from the call to the night, because the launch runner starts 30 days before and the story sessions sit before that. One programme covers one speaker; a second speaker is a second Stage rung.

What happens to the money if we take a company membership later?

Every euro of it is credited against a company membership signed within 90 days. The programme is one item in the one-off basket whatever rungs you take, and the full-programme price is already a bundle, so it takes no further combo discount.

Pick the engineer. We fill the room.

Book a call, bring the name and the story. The date and the rungs get settled on the call; the itemised offer lands in your inbox the same day.
